I know many of you object to my calling these stories about some of the VILE people in Public Education "The RULE, not the exception." My apologies to all the decent people there, but I think it is warranted. The "Government/Education Complex" is so full of these stories that all members in the complex need their feet held to the fire.
We need to ask all of our supposedly wonderful teachers how they can stand to work in a system that employs such people. Don't let them off the hook. These stories are a function of the SYSTEM, and the kind of people attracted to it. By calling the decent members of BIG ED to account, we might shame them into demanding reform of the "working class zero" unionization of their "profession."

Great Moments in Public Education (thanks to Best of the Web)
"A 16-year-old disabled girl was punched and forced to engage in videotaped sexual acts with several boys in a high school auditorium as dozens of students watched, according to witnesses," the Associated Press reports form Columbus, Ohio. It happened last month at Mifflin High:
The principal, Regina Crenshaw, was suspended and will be fired for not calling police, school officials said. . . . The girl was forced to perform oral sex on at least two boys, according to statements from school officials, obtained by The Columbus Dispatch. Part of the alleged assault was videotaped by a student who had a camera for a school project.
School officials found the girl bleeding from the mouth. An assistant principal cautioned the girl's father against calling 911 to avoid media attention, the statements said. The girl's father called police.
Her father said the girl is developmentally disabled. A special education teacher said the teen has a severe speech impediment.

TRYST TEACHER'S SHAME (DAVID ANDREATTA, April 13, 2005, NY Post)
A Manhattan high-school teacher slept with her student for months and got pregnant with his child — but gave him only a barely passing 65 in social-studies class, according to a bombshell report obtained by The Post.
The 18-year-old boy toy from the HS for Health Professions and Human Services shrugged off the grade, but couldn't forgive his teacher, Rhianna Ellis, 25, for reneging on her promise to abort the pregnancy.
